The consequences of drug abuse and drunk/impaired driving are severe and can result in devastating effects on individuals, families, and communities. As per Section 521.371-521.377 of the Texas Transportation Code, individuals convicted of alcohol and drug offenses face automatic suspension of their licenses for six months. However, there is a way to have your license reinstated - by attending and successfully completing an educational program. Failure to complete the program can result in an indefinite revocation of your license.

The Victim Impact Panels (VIP) offers a powerful opportunity for offenders to meet court and probation requirements while learning about the gravity of drunk and impaired driving. By attending VIP, participants will hear directly from victims of DWI incidents and gain a firsthand understanding of how their actions can have serious negative consequences on victims' financial, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

VIP aims to define and illustrate drunk and impaired driving, highlight its victim impact, and foster accountability.

  • Define drunk and impaired driving.
  • Describe current trends for drunk and impaired driving.
  • Provide examples of drunk and impaired driving.
  • Explain the impact of drunk and impaired driving on victims.
  • Discuss thoughts and feelings about being held accountable for drunk and impaired driving.
